In-Person Technology Classes

We’ve partnered with the National Digital Equity Center (NDEC) to offer a series of free digital literacy classes for our community. NDEC strives to provide valuable hands-on experience to empower you with the digital tools you need to navigate today’s world. These classes are in-person at the library.

Registration is required for each class. To register, call us at 207-571-7210, email tech@mcarthurlibrary.org, or click on the Reserve your spot button next to your class of interest here. Please register as early as possible as class size is limited to 8 people for most classes. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please re-submit your registration or contact us. Please note: you will need to fill out a one-time enrollment form for the NDEC when you sign up for your first class.

Thursday March 21, 11:00-12:00, Wolfahrt Room (2nd Floor of Library)

McArthur Library has partnered with the National Digital Equity Center (NDEC) to offer on-site technology classes hosted at the library; this is the first of these classes, which we plan to hold monthly.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has offered monthly discounts towards internet service for eligible households, but is coming to an end due to lack of government funding.  In this one-hour class presented by NDEC we will look at the timeline published from the FCC regarding the ACP wind down, so you know what to expect. We will also look at several options which may help you get the internet access you need at a price you can afford.  No devices are required; just bring yourself.  This class will be held in the Wolfahrt room, on the 2nd floor of the library.

In order to register for the class, you must first enroll to take courses offered by the National Digital Equity Center, or contact the library to have us enter your enrollment information for you.  You can contact us for this purpose by emailing tech@mcarthurlibrary.org, or calling (207) 571-7210.  If you'd like to enroll on your own, click here: Enroll to take classes from NDEC.

Once enrolled for taking NDEC classes, you can register for "Affordable Internet After the ACP" by visiting https://digitalequitycenter.org/classes/class/affordable-internet/?instance_id=4423.  We can register you for the class also - if you'd like us to do this email tech@mcarthhurlibrary.org or call (207) 571-7210.
